i was planning my trip south, looking at tides around those nice skinny spots in the ICW and landed on the Swan Point Marina website. Saw a name that looked familiar along with the picture of a hatt. on the home page

what's the depth at the dock? need 6'+ (70' loa) thinking about stopping there around oct 28 or 29

how are the depths at the ICW/inlet junction? on the way north in the spring I had to poke 3 times before finding decent water. Will plan on passing near high tide and stop at the marina for the night.

I don't think you'll have any problems with water depth at the marina or at the New River inlet. I've been in that marina a few times as it is run by our very own starman and boss lady.

You may want to give them a call and verify the depth at the marina though as it wouldn't be much deeper than your minimum requirement. I can tell you that you need to run very close to the beach when heading out of that inlet. Marker placement leaves a bit to be desired.

Pascal, I gave Paul aka starman a call and he told me he could put you on the face dock at the entrance to the marina. You'll have plenty of depth there as the interior docks would be pretty close with your draft. He said just to give him a call a couple of days ahead of time, and he'd have everything set for you.

Mention my name, and you'll get the slip at 20% over the regular rate.

thks for the info... i thought they'd have enough water on the face dock.

problem there isnt' the inlet, i'll be running inside anyway, it's the junction of the ICW and the inlet. the south side is ok although some folks have has issues there at lo tide. In May, the north side was shoaling badly. i got there jsut before a rising mid tide, aroudn 1am, and it took me 3 attempt to find decent water, 8 to 9' or so. turned out to be on teh green side, very close to the island. each time i approached very slow, bumping just one engine in and out of gear, only to see the depth coming up to 7'. needless to say, i backed out every time since i need 6 1/2.

here is GE track... obviously the long lines are GPS errors... the 3 attempts are visible, then finally the track thru, where the charts show less water.
