  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
We have a wedding reception at the house this weekend.

The bride to be, my oldest daughter wants a "signature" drink which consists of vanilla ice cream, vodka, chocolate syrup and cinnamon combined in a blender.

I am concerned about the difficulty of blender batches of a drink that will serve a lot of people in a short period of time.

I am wondering about renting a soft serve ice cream machine to make THE DRINK.

Does anyone have experience or knowldege as to whether or not my idea is feasible. As father of the bride, I do not have much room to be wrong on this.

My wife thinks I spend too much time on the forum. An answer here would be helpful in more ways than one.

Thanks
Vincent

That drink would be called a "Bushwacker"! What you need to do is rent is a frozen daquiri machine and talk to some of your vendors for a Bushwacker mix.

Sorry no good help but this should be a good thread!

Vincent - all wives think we spend too much time on the HOF. Let me assure you - you do not spend too much time here! Good luck with the wedding.

Jack,
You know Annie. A Bushwacker may sound fine to you, but to her its a Chrissie (ie. Ruth Chris) Annie makes with Bluebell homestyle vanilla and Stoly. Ed's sells soft serve and that may help get by the loss of Bluebell.

A "mix" will probably not pass inspection. But I will look into it. You may have an inspiration here anyway, since a frozen Daquri machine may better provide the necessary production rate vs a blender.

Thanks for the good wishes. I am still open for further tips from entertaining experts.

Vincent, let your fingers do the walking and check your local Yellow Pages for a company that will rent you an ice cream drink machine. I did a quick Google search for such an animal and came up with this...

I'm sure you can find a local outfit who can supply such a thing.

Thanks,
My google search was for soft serve ice cream and alcohol. A search for frozen drink and alcohol worked much better.

I found a couple of margarita machine rentals nearby. The machines have a freezer unit built in. That just might work for ice cream drinks. I'll check tomorrow.

You need a Daiquiri machine. The margarita machine is different. We have our own machines at our club, but for our regotta we rent 2 Daquri machines. Works quite nice.

What time is the reception so we can give it a try?

"vanilla ice cream, vodka, chocolate syrup and cinnamon combined in a blender. "

But what are the men going to drink? :)

I talked to the caterer, he has some kind of large capacity, insertable blender, that can handle about 3 gallons. Perhaps a Torquedo outboard. What ever, I'm glad it is his responsiblity. I am just playing the role of father of the bride.

Regarding the question of what will the men will drink? I have learned that weddings are not about men. We are only the supporting cast. In any case, the "signature" drink is one of the bride's choices. On the other hand, we will have the usual whiskey, wine and beer as well as a scotch and cigar bar for those whose feminine side is not dominant.

The wedding is at 7, and the band will start around 8:30. It is on Pascagoula beach, and you should be able to find a good anchorage about a few hundred yards south of the beach.

Regards

Enjoy and I hope your check book doesn't go up in flames.

Congrat's to you and your daughter sounds like she has a Good Dad.

Thanks for the suggestions and gracious comments.

I cannot say how the frozen drink machine worked, I never found it, but I did see a lot of people with one of the drinks. Everything went just about perfect,
