Well it looks like Maynard has done a little bodywork. He is absolutely right about the only way to get a straight surface is a long flat board, whether you do t with power or by hand is your choice, but damn, these boats are BIG.
I have restored old classic cars for 45 years and couldnt get a straight surface with a random orbital , wont even talk about what I think about trying to get a straight surface with a grinder, you seriously need to get the right tools, you dont have to spend a fortune as Maynard explains. Harbor freight stuff works well ..... and sometimes you gotta go back and get another tools cause the first one blew up.
Get a compressor , make sure it is sufficient cfm, and don't spare the sandpaper.
