Anyone have experience with custom made outdoor (for back deck) marine carpet. I currently have carpeting on my rear deck and around my helm area but after 12 years it is showing its age and needs to be replaced. I am looking for a good quality exterior carpet that has the teak deck look. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions. I live in an area where it does not get too hot or wet and the boat only gets used for 4 - 5 months a year. I would prefer carpeting to some of the synthetic deck materials.
Your comments / advice would be appreciated.

We used Infinity woven vinyl on our aft deck in a light teak color and on the fly bridge in a dark teak with black stripes. Fantastic product, very durable, waterproof and easy to clean. Only downside is it is expensive, but you know the old adage you get what you pay for. We put snaps in the corners to hold it in place., John

Thanks John,

can you give me an idea how much per square foot?

Our order got so screwed up when we ordered it but I think it was $85.00 a running foot 12 feet wide. John

How bout a pic

These guys manufacture in Australia and have agents in the USA.

This was my MarineTuft carpet a few years back when new. It still looks smart when its dry and vacuumed. I find it tends to hold water and take days to dry if not in the sun.

Look at my gallery, pics there, John

Thanks guys, your suggestions are much appreciated. I will look into the infinity woven vinyl. My aft deck is not enclosed so it does tend to get wet when it rains so I would like a product that can dry fairly quickly. The woven vinyl looks nice. I just need to find someone who carries it in Canada and I hope I don't have to sell my first born to afford it.

Cheers,

I was looking also, there is a suppler in Barrie north of Toronto. Alas you will be loosing a child, it was pricey. JTs outdoor fabrics, 256 a yard and I thinks 102" wide.

Thanks for the source Walt. I will contact and see what it will cost for what I need. My back deck needs a carpet that is about 12 feet wide by 8 feet. Im curious how they can make it 12 feet wide. Would they sew two pieces together?

Our installer taped it together and even though I know there is a seam I usually can’t find it.

I replaced carpet on the aft deck of my Roamer in 2007. I went to Lowes and bought a good indoor/outdoor carpet and had it cut to fit. It dried quickly and we never had any problems with it. I don't remember the name of the product since we left all receipts with the boat when we sold it. I am sure Lowes still carries it. We didn't have to sell our first born either to buy it.
