My boat will be in Stuart through mid-March. Hatt Mini-Bash Scramble in Ft. Pierce on 3/10 works well.

Both NC & SC have really active billfish tournament series May - July. I will check to see if there would be any conflicts for Memorial Day. If there are, we could maybe allow any local tournament participants to get a certified weight / species to enter for the Hatt "V-Tournament". If no tournaments in a certain location, participant would need to take catch to the nearest certified scale (marina or tackle shop).
Possible Species:
Wahoo
Dolphin
Tuna y/f..?
Points for billfish release only. Photo's of fish with a marked card would work.
How to manage multiple locations..?

For the big one I suggest it's small prizes and lots of them. If everone gets something it makes it more fun for the whole family and not just a mans tournement.

Maybe even an interesting entry fee. Like you must have at least one sailboater on board or you have to take a MY owner fishing.

So we have a date and a city for the Southeast Fla Mini Bash...3/10/2007 in Ft. Pierce. Doug, can we get a sticky thread in the Sandbar announcing this? We can work out the details there....

Commited Boats....

Calcutta
Thoward(Knotty Maid)
Way Maker

Do we have some docking options available at a local marina?

For the Big Bash here is some brainstorming

Specific locations for weigh in
$300-500 entry(to cover costs and lots of prizes)
Jr. angler award
Big fish award
Point system(for releases/catches)
Sat. Nite Capt. meeting
Sun. tourney
Meet and greet Saturday
Mon. morning kid games
Wet T-shirt contest(just seeing if my wife is reading) :D
Ladies lunchen
Boat pulls(for Randy of course)
Dolphin, Tuna, Wahoo, Bills(dolphin bite should be on everwhere)

SURE THING!

PM or email me to let me know when you have things firmed up enough and I'll start the thread and stick it!

Oh yeah - Sam's Marine will be happy to donate some stuff - we would probably also provide some 1st annual (or inaugrual) Hatteras Owners Forum Tournament tshirts for all the participants (with a little Sam's Marine advertising placed somewhere discreetly)

Should be no problem depending on the number of boats needing dockage. I will check with my dock owner this weekend to be sure.

Thanks Doug I will get back to you....

How does this sound for the target fish(big tournament)

Largest combined weight of 5 dolphin/wahoo/kingfish for cash prizes. Minimum of 10 pounds each.

Most billfish releases award/prize(call in and photo required)
Largest tuna award/prize
Largest dolphin award/prize
Largest Wahoo award/prize
Largest king fish award/prize
Lady angler big fish award/prize
Jr angler big fish award/prize

Entry fees will cover cash awards and we should be able to get sponsors for the big fish award prizes.

A multi location Bimini start would be a really cool photo oportunity for Hatteras and Sams.

Sounds great...do we need another fish category for the good folks up nawth?

Bimini start photo would be sweet, and easy to set up here

End of May (out of Beaufort/Morhead ) bluewater fishing runs the gamment....yellowfin, billfish, large mahi, wahoo, etc. Great time to fish the area...most all trips are productive

We already have blocked time off at the end of May, tentative plans are to cruise to the Pamlico Sound area. Not much of a fisherman would sure like to meet up with freinds I have yet to met. Will gladly crew for anyone going out.

Whatever and wherever you decide we will jump through hoops to join the gang.

biggest cod
biggets hadock
most short schooly bluefin?
loudest thuddddddddddd??

Consider the crew of Runaround Sue (1970 44'Tricabin) as interested! Do to time constraints, we would only be able to bring our boat to the area within a few hour's cruise of Ft Myers, but would be willing to drive to the east coast to meet with other Hatt folks. (we would find a motel close to the "get-to-gether" marina). Count us in!

For the long Island boaters we could have sea robin and dog fish categories.

Scott, time to call your fishing show guys

Already did. 1 is on a tourement on the 10th but I aint done yet. Trying to get a good crew for the trip.

is there going to be a drinking catagory??

I already won that one.

Wise@$$! :D You forgot skates.

For the Memorial Day Weekend bash I am working on getting Sailfish Marina. It will be expensive but first class. I am hoping to bring together all Hatteras owners, not just the fishermen. I hope to have more solid info by the end of next week. How cool would 100 Hatteras Yachts all tied up together flying the Sam's/Hatteras flags be?

Bob and Nancy are definately interested in running the Baby Grand down for the NC event. Lots of forum members also in the DelMarVa/Chessapeake Bay. Spring or fall striped bass runs might offer a chance for some fun. We haven't fished off shore in a long while, but are pretty good at big stripers. Maybe we can get some help/advice from the outer banks gang in exchange for some striper secrets :D . We would be happy to explore options on the central Chessapeake if desired - also might be nice to just meet somewhere for food/drink over the summer. Dr Jim should be ready to show off his repower by then! Regards, Bob K
