Gus’s latest adventure

Don’t miss the current episode of In To Deep on You tube . Gus is truly crazy

Re: Gus’s latest adventure

That kid is fabulous. Wish he would have found a 70’ HATTERAS.

Re: Gus’s latest adventure

Pat and Ethyl Murphy who own Murphy's Law which is a 1986 67 CPMY (I think) showed up mid episode to help Gus sea trial. They are cruising Tampa-Bahamas-Maine-Tampa this year and ran into Gus. I can't wait to hear from Pat.

I can't get enough of Gus's enthusiasm. Gus loves being at sea. Gus loves being at anchor. Gus loves turning on motors. Gus loves finding the leak in the bilge. Gus loves boating and life.

I felt that way 25 years ago when I purchased my first Hatteras 43 DC. I feel that way now but with less energy offset by more financial resources.

I fantasize about combining Gus with better resources but it may be too fun to watch him hustle and get by.

GO GUS. (Quit jumping between boats!)

Re: Gus’s latest adventure

Thanks for the film credits Bruce!
My wife and I are big Gus fans. I've watched most of his episodes multiple times as I replay them for my friends to watch. They all get hooked. Gus has just as much energy and welcoming personality in person as he does on tape. He's a great guy. We were pulling into Portsmouth (Norfolk) and we recognized him right away on his trademark one-wheel.

By the way, our current boat is named Jubilee. Murphy's Law was our 53' MY we had for over 15 years. We are currently in Boothbay, Maine.

I thought you said 63 foot when he introduced you. I wish that they would’ve showed your boat when you were going out for the sea trial.

Re: Gus’s latest adventure

We do have a 63' CPMY now, named Jubilee. Picture taken in Chesapeake City as we were coming north.

have y'all kept up with gus? he was on one of the high speed passenger trains (brightline?) that got in a wreck in florida, he is ok. he was on the one that hit a fire truck

Re: Gus’s latest adventure

Gus anchored next to us at Big Major last week and we went to Staniel for dinner together on the center console he was towing. Seas were rough so his center console was a better option than dropping our RIB..

Gus is healthy, happy, and fun as ever cruising with Casey his long term GF. His health scare last summer was far more severe than his videos let on. He is still recovering physically.

I am 61 and bought my first Hatteras at 30. Gus is 26 but now has 30 years in cruising experience and 130 years in mechanical ability. I wish I could say I was just like him when I was younger but I never was as skilled. Gus is a graduate aviation mechanic and knows boats don't fall out of the sky. So the Broward will be a great boat for its next owner.

Buy Gus dinner and drinks whenever you get the chance. You will feel the excitement for cruising that led you to own an antique yacht and you will appreciate the maturity your experiences have brought you. I love Gus and hope life's experiences mature him with kid gloves. He is more fun in person than on Youtube.

In fairness, I feel like a lot of us have become antiques along with the yachts, LOL

Re: Gus’s latest adventure

I was wondering how he was so fantastically talented with the motor repairs, I was admitedly feeling bad with how I struggle to sort things out. Knowing he was a trained aviation mechanic makes me feel a little less shame!

Love his show! I think he makes us all just want to throw in the towel, sell everything and shove off the dock!

Good luck to Gus.

Cool to see the Murphy's interacting with him as well. Nice folks, we talked to them at a dock when visiting Florida about 3 years ago just before we got our 53.

Keep on Boatin!

Re: Gus’s latest adventure

I've been watching Gus' "In Too Deep" tubes since his first adventure on his Albin trawler. He sometimes flies by the seat of his pants a bit too much for me regarding repairs -like the cutlass bearing removal on his Hatteras where he ripped the entire fiberglass shaft tube out of the hull by removing it with a chain hoist tied to a fork truck. Watching that episode unfold almost me me scream out loud. Otherwise , his enthusiasm and youthful energy are fun to watch and his channel is probably my favorite. Thankfully, his repair and maintenance methods seem to have become a little more refined as he gains more boating experience!
