  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
Just took off the aluminum edging around the top of the deck house, filled holes and fared the edge then painted it while I was painting the rest of the boat. We the installed a vinyl stick on drip edge called EZ RV gutter system. It went on easily and comes in an off white which is a pretty good match to Hatteras off white. In Calif we get a lot of dew that would run down my aft deck Windows. Hopeing this will eliminate that problem. I plan to see where the water accumulates and add a couple of drains somehow. John

How did you install it? Screws or just adhesives? Nice look. Keep us in the loop on how it wears. I'm leary about using vinyl or rubber unless its painted for UV protection.

It comes with 3M peel and stick adhesive backing and it was very strong. I had planed to use some screws if needed, but did not feel that any were needed. As far as holding up in the weather I hope it wil, it is solid vinyl and is used on motor homes. If it does not hold up I can always paint it. Only time will tell. John

Let me know how it wears. I'm really interested if it works.

I just googled EZ RV gutter system and came up with a product called CAMCO. It comes in 10 ft coils for about $25. Is that what you used. The picture of yours looks good. Is it possible to get a few more photos including close ups? I am getting my boat (1982 48 MY) Awlgriped and would like to remove the weathered alum trim and replace with something like you did. BTW where did you get yours and do you think it is available in longer lengths than 10 ft? It would be great to apply it in one piece to eliminate seams.

Walt

Bought it online from Essential Products RV and Marine. Came as one 100 foot piece for $185.00. Had quite a bit left over and was surprised because my guess was that I probably needed about 90 feet. John

As far as close up photos go, the one photo of it on the boat is pretty close, it pretty much just blends in, can hardly tell that it is there. Off white color matches the Hatteras off white paint on the boat. John

Thanks John,

I will order it from your supplier...

Walt

I know this is an old thread, but I came across it while searching to see if my new to me 1979 53 MY is the only one out there where the rain drips right at the two sliding pilot house doors. Boarding in the rain we're getting extra wet from the runoff. Anyone add gutters to divert the dripping?

I put on the drip edge mentioned in this thread, however it still drains right over the doors must be a lot lower there for some reason. John

So maybe I'm not crazy. I guess I'll try to figure out something to keep the Admiral happy.
Thanks.

The drip edge I put on did not work as I expected so I removed it and cut some 2 1/2 strips of 1/4 inch pvc board and used the 3M double stick outdoor tape to install. Have to paint it still but this should work and I think it looks pretty good also. We will see when the torrential Southern California rains start. John

Looks great John. What did you do on the corners?

Just ran it right around the corners, was flexible enough, put the double sided tape on the boat first.
