The plastic in my fly bridge canvas is scratched and foggy. Are there products on the market that can be used to clean/clear up plastic?

yes it depends on type of "glass" you have. Different products for different kinds. IMAR is used on stratoglass which is popular type. They also make a polish to improve fogginess. If it is really far gone or the fogginess is a containment it may not be cleaned. A friend of mine once got aluminum oxide on his from a regular drip from an aluminum sail boom. It couldn't be polished out.

Another cleaner for plexiglass is Plexus. But be careful with it. I can de-laminate over time, I'm told, but ok to use once and while.

Good old vinegar and water is a good all purpose cleaner for routine.

For the canvas. Soap and water and then retreat it. If it is not canvas but some other type of synthetic material soap will work but may be able to stand harsher cleaners like Roll Off. Just be careful and test if you can.

Hope this helps.

If I were you I would contact a local canvas shop and show them what you have. They will have good recommendations to help. If it's to far gone they will be there to install new glass. I use a wet shammy to remove the dust then I use an old fashion cloth diaper to wipe in the UV protection. Don't use anything harsh or you will add scratches to the glass.

Check out the Novus line. They have 3 levels of scratch remover and a cleaner, also they have applicator systems. I have had great luck bringing back Isenglass with these products. John

We have Strataglass and use the Imar Strataglass Cleaner & the Imar Strataglass Conditioner. I think that it's numbers 301 & 302 or 302 & something else... I can't remember off of the top of my head but I'll check this weekend. We buy it from Defender online.

We've also used the Imar Strataglass products on Isinglass and it also works well with that.

Just make sure that you use clean dry cloths &/or towels and change frequently. And no need to use a lot of the cleaner, a little goes a long way!

We asked 2 local Canvas people what they recommended and they advised replacing the glass as it was too late, that once it gets cloudy and sticky, you won't get it clean & clear. We proved them wrong with the Imar products and a lot of elbow grease!

Good luck!

Recommended by local canvas shop. Been pleased. A little goes a long way. Microfiber towels are best.
