Cat 3208 average hours to rebuild

season I had the exact engines in my Bertram 33. These were great engines. Had to keep the heat exchangers clean but other than that I enjoyed trouble free performance. I owned that boat for 6 years. My motors had close to 7000 hours and had never been rebuilt. They were the 3208T at 320 horsepower.

Forgot mention that if they are 320 horsepower they are the T not TA.

Thanks again for the replies on this one. It looks as if there is a private deal between the seller and and a friend that is in position one outside of the broker's listing with a two week timeframe for him to finalize a deal. I can make an offer and be placed in the number two position.

I am also finding it very difficult to find insurance on this 36. So far, I have contacted 3 insurance companies with the results between "I cannot find an American based company to insure it to $2K to $4K estimates. That is a non starter for me when added to monthly operating costs. I did find Boat US's web estimator to complete the quote for $1,700 with a $500,000 liability, which the marina is requiring and a declared value of the $37K selling price.

We'll see what the week brings. But thanks again for everyone's input.

Sucks being in position two, however if it hasn't closed already, it probably won't close. Might just be a broker tactic to get more offers.

I am paying $1,700 with a declared value of $100k on my 86 Sedan. Cal Bob at Anchor Marine in Washintgon state, he's had no trouble finding me insurance on older boats.

You might try Hagerty. They will insure older boats, although I have my boat insured w BoatUS. But Hagerty insure all my classic cars.

For 320hp you should see in excess of 10k hours out of the 3208's. Keep the cooling system clean, the oil changed and the air filter/sep clean.

Make sure you're making full rpm's and not lugging.
