It was really just a generalization. I have seen bristol salt water boats and I have seen fresh water disasters. But in general, the hardware and paint are usually better on the freshwater boat. Mechanicals are all about maintenance.

Agreed. Everything must be maintained as per the conditions. A boat in salt water is sitting in the worst environment of all. And needs to be maintained as such. A boat sitting in fresh water can go far south in condition due to neglect thinking it’s all okay.

Do you mine sharing who you plan to use for your engine room detail? My ER needs some attention ( My back doesn't let me crawl, around down there like I used to) and the guy I had planned to use went mia on me. I have a couple of Engine projects scheduled to get completed first and then want to get ER back in order.

Thanks

Marine engine & engine room detailing is sort of its own special world. There are some pretty oddball characters, it reminds you of the guys in WaterWorld who live way down in the bowels of the old Exxon Valdez. The best one I've found is named Pierce Lambert, he's reasonable and does an incredibly thorough job. Replaces the hoses, knows the correct paints to use, has his own steam cleaners, etc. He's mobile, travels around in one of those "Free Candy" camper vans with his poodle. When he's done you could serve thanksgiving dinner in the engine room, and it looks so good you'd probably want to.
