  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' YACHT FISHERMAN (1970 - 1981)
Been using Google to try to shop golf cart batteries to use in my Hatteras.

Interstate wants $157 for theirs but I saw Exide for $99.99 at the BJs south Florida stores.
Any recommendations?

No recommendations only to say a friend has used them for 4years with no problems and fits 4 in one OEM battery box on his 53

Not all batteries are created equal. If only price matters there's walfart.

I bought mine at Sam's and they are Eveready. On the label it states East Penn. Who woiuld have thought. I called East Penn and talked to them about the application. They had a good customer service Dept and easy to talk to. They said the weight means everything. My batteries weight 74 lbs. Mmore lead means a better battery. Trojan used to be heavier then they started making them in Mexico. Mine are 3.5 yrs old and doing great (knock on wood). The trick is never charge them over 20% of the house bank capacity. My bank is 690 amp hrs, so i dont charge over 140 amps.

Walmart and sams have batteries made to their spec. Choose well. They could be a cheap imitation or a decent bettery. They sell bolth. I've gotten 5 years out of good batteries and 1 out of cheap ones.

I have gotten great service out of the Everlast at Wally world too. Cant figure it out. 7 years out of my truck battery and I replaced it "just because" I didnt want it leaving me. My wifes Explorer 6 years and I heard the starter slowing down so I replaced it too. I'm happy so far. When we are cruising on the boat or working we only need one car and we ferry it to where we are working. I leave the other vehicle in the garage hooked up to the trickle charger. I guess I've been lucky. The Sams batteries are 74 lbs. Cant beat the lead. The trojans were like 65 lbs.

Not far from my house. They sell scratch and dent out the back door.....

It's been a few years, but I picked up (4) 12V-8D AGM's there for around $600......

IF YOU HAVE A CLUB CAR OR EASY GO GOLF CART DEALER NEAR BY GIVE THEM A CALL .MOST OF THEM PURCHASE SEVERAL PALLETS AT A TIME THEY GET A DEAL. ESPECIALLY THE EXIDE BOYS. i BELIVE THE ONE MOST OF THEM PURCHASE IS THE EB88 I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IT MEANS. THERE IS A CLUB CAR DEALER NEAR ME WHO HAS A LEASE FLEET OF A COUPLE OF THOUSAND CARTS. BETWEEN SOUTHERN PINES PINEHURST AND MYRTLE BEACH. I SEE THE EXIDE TRUCK UNLOADING TRACTOR TRAILOR LOADS AT A TIME....i BELIVE HE PURCHASES THROUGH CLUB CAR AT OEM PRICES. JUST FOOD FOR THOUGHT!
HE JUST GOT ME 4 8D'S THEY WERE 127.00 EACH. I HAD TO PICK UP AND HALL THEM 150 MILES TO THE COAST.
HE IS A HIGH SCHOOL CLASS MATE.

I just pulled the Everstart out of my daughters car. It wasnt bad but after 5 years thought again it was on borrowed time. I'm wanting her to be in a dependable car since we will be traveling the next 7 months. Maybe batteries are lasting longer than they used to. Golf cart batteries are really rode hard and charged hard. Drained all the way down and charged all the way up. However, on a house bank they are pretty much just maintained at the full charge level. I never bring mine down past the 50% level. The Battery manufactor told me they last much longer not going below that level. I wonder why they dont tell the golf cart owner that?

I replaced one bank (4 batteries) with Republic batteries, made here in Houston. I bought from a local golf cart store for about $550 for the four of them.

Well after a lot on Internet research and talking to people I think I have the best solution. Crown Battery has an 8 bolt golf cart battery, CR 165. http://www.jeffreyalleninc.com/ is a national distributor. In Ft Lauderdale with core exchange the price is $125.14 each out the door. Sams and BJs are about a $100+ tax, etc. each and their specs and manufacture don't compare with the Crown Battery.

Hope this helps on this issue.

For those who have replaced M19 batteries with 8 volt golf batteries what has been your experience? Is there a downside to going to 8 volt golf cart batteries? Is the wiring the same for both sizes? Do you recommend switching to new chargers from original Sentry? Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated?Best,Howie
