Help !!! I can't ind the blower fan for the fwd head, supposed to be one, the vent is there, here's hoping !!!

Dennis

Still no luck it's not to the right of the outlet grille, not under vanity, not in bilge, have written to Hatteras service dept for clues.
Thanks for all the responses.

Mine also has gone bad... I just decided to use the switch and rewired it to turn on/off the light over the mirror instead of having to use the switch on the light itself.

Makes it a LOT easier when company is onboard.

Dig deep !! The reason it doesnt work is because its a chore to get to, and nobody before you could be bothered. Its a 110volt squirrel cage unit that needs to be disassembled cleaned and oiled. I did mine and are now 4 for 4.
(one for the galley as well). They all really suck now LOL. ws

Open the compartment near the vent and follow the hose. Mine was very hard to get to but after replacement works great. Got a new one from Sam's. Ron

The forward head exhaust fan on my 1979 is in a "corner compartment" to the right of the vent screen. There are oval head screws with trim washers holding the "corner compartment" on and sealant at the juncture with the other wall surfaces. This "corner compartment" has the same plastic laminate on it as the other walls. Hope that this helps.

Grainger sells a direct replacement 110v. motor,at a very reasonable price. You must reuse your fan.

Sams has the motors as well. I bought one from them a couple of years ago.

We changed the shower stall in the forward head into storage.

Had a carpenter friend make shelves that fit into the stall using no holes so if the next owner wants to put it back to use, all the wood just comes out..

Since we live onboard, storage is at a premium and this was a easy fix. And no need to go hunting for the exhaust fan .....

OH NO! You guys mean to tell me that the head blowers are 110v??? I assumed they were 32v on my boat and have already bought two new 32v blowers (just like the 32v engine room blowers) and I just haven't had time to install them in the two aft heads. Sure, I didn't put my meter on the wires to check voltage, but I was just sure that they would be 32v just like the engine blowers. Now I guess I'll have to find my meter and confirm once and for all. BUMMER!

C'mon man... ya got yer head in the paint locker?? LOL Mine are all 110VAC
and Id like to add one or two to the engine room as well. Really should have a blower going on the generator... get it? Also when pulling in back home, plug the boat in and let it cool off without battery usage. ws

Bill, your engine room blowers are 110v? I wonder if that was original. I have to assume that my 32v engine room blowers are original because there is a 32v breaker on the factory panel for each blower. I can't imagine anyone taking the time and expense to change 110v blowers to 32v! I can see changing 32v out for 110v though. I've GOT to find my Fluke and settle this once and for all! This has been fairly low on my priority list so far, but I may need to bump it up a bit. I'll keep you guys posted!

Whoaaa Nelly! The OEM blower is 32VDC. I would like to ADD a 110VAC blower for generator cooling at anchor, plus for dockside cool down. A.C. is also less battery charger heat, and can be made to run on a thermostat.
Verstehen Sie, was ich meine? LOL ws

On the early ( 58YF ) the OEM engine room blowers are 32vdc but all three OEM head blowers are 115vac. Been there done that. The 115vac bathroom vent blowers are mentioned in the brouchures on this WEBsite...

The fan for the center head is mounted below the deck OB of the salon. I just need to rig a switch right there with an indicator light and drop the hose down the the ER ceiling. The center head is all but gone right now! ws

I think that was pretty standard for all years. My '85 has 32v blowers in the ER and 120v in the heads as well. My dad's 43DC was a 1975 and it was set up the same way.

My two ER blowers are 12V, the two blowers for the heads are 110AC.

I did put a fan in the ER two years ago I got at Lowes:

"Lasko
Stanley Utility Pivoting Blower Fan With Grounded Outlets."

It's made to dry wet carpet and the like. It does a very good job of getting the heat out of the ER and I have it on a switch so I can turn it on/off without pulling floor panals.

To access the unit you need to remove the food locker located on the Port side immediately above the dinette table. Once you take food locker out it is easy to get to the blower. I replaced mine from Sam's Marine.
