  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
Tony aka Woodsong posted this on boaterEd. I never saw it before but it's fun to watch! what a flashback, you almost expect a young Sean Connery to step in and say.... "my name is bond, James Bond"

Or Ricardo Montalban saying "feel the smooth, quiet ride, and the rich, Corinthian leather"

That was really cool!!! I'm wondering about that "fully maintenance free" part, though. My Hatt sure isn't maintenance free!

Think about this...whose boat is that in that video...it could be yours....we may never know.

I wonder where that video has been hiding all these years! It looks like it is the 53 used in the first sales brochure, which I believe was a 1969, maybe even hull #1: http://www.hatterasowners.com/Brochures/53MY/53MYB-0069.htm

The models aboard look like the same people in the brochure and video also.

Very cool. I have already sent some links out to some Hatteras friends that don't participate in this forum.

Angela - thanks so much for sharing that.

I'm sending the link to everyone around here to see. I'm also sending it to couple of old geezers that are still at Hatteras who were there when that video was made. As best I can tell, it was made a few years before I started at Hatteras in '74. I was only 19 and still in college by the way...

Thanks again!

You could be right. Those heads looked very strange - like a box with a toilet seat on top. I've never seen anything like that, but I'm sure those heads are all gone from this world by now.

That was great! This was the kind of post we needed on here now. I don't know which was funnier, the hippie chick or the 8-track deck. :D

I've got the original '65 factory brochure for my 41DC, and it came standard with a record player. The hairdo's and furniture look about the same as on the video.

Nice..I downloaded and converted it to a .wmv movie that is easier to play in the future... :D

Ha! The green pants, the giant 14 cubic feet frig, the ladies big hair, the music, the grainy film! Great thanks for that post! I grew up boating in the 60's. One of the ladies we boated with had that hairdo! But you had to be kinda of a high roller back then to buy one, no?

Great job Pascal. Can that be put on a DVD? Just think...every owner of a 1510 should have a copy with his owners manual. Sam's, perhaps it can be added to your inventory for sale to Hatteras owners (or envious non owners). If so I would buy one even though I don't own a 53, but IMO it was (is) the single most important boat that enhanced the Hatteras name.

well, again thank Tony aka Woodsong.. he posts here once i a while, he was looking for a hatt at a time.

anyone can download the clip if they use the latest version of flash and the latest real player although even though downloading works in IE, it no longer works in the latest version of FF.

that was some good sh&t.. anybody got one for the 58 yachtfish????????????

Download and install "Download Helper" if you are using FireFox...

Pascal, I was coming over just to post this here as I thought the hatt folks might like it- glad to see you already posted.
What a cool video. I am not sure who the person is that posted it on youtube (not me) but it looks like it was just recently posted. I was searching youtube last night for some other stuff on another boat when I stumbled upon that video. I think I was like the 20th view and now it's well more than that.

I just HOPE all of you hatt owners have that music piped into your boats via your 8 TRACK as you make your gin and tonic. :D :D :D :D

One thing is for sure, that video deserves to be part of the hatteras historical archives!

Bravo! Where do I get one of those fancy dishwashers?

It's funny. I just installed a Fischer and Paykel dish drawer. Sometimes old ideas become new again.

Don't dis da 8-trak...had one in my Buick Electra (Spartan Green with White Vinyl Top...looking good [was a pretty car...sorry its gone] ) and it sounded great, esp. playin' Merle Haggard...
