We have an A.O. Smith 20 gal water heater, 220V, that is approximately 10 years old. It's starting to show some significant rusting at the bottom seam and we're considering installing a new unit this winter. This brand has obviously held up well but they are expensive and I would like to hear others opinions about replacing the heater.

Quite a few threads on this with tons of opinion if you search.

I recently went with a unit from Torrid Marine. All stainless, 220v and also has a heat exchanger so you can plumb it to your engine coolant system and have hot water while underway. I have mine plumbed in to my hydronic heating system so in the winter months, while I have that system running, I can shut down the 220 element side.
