Hatteras Model
43' MOTOR YACHT (1984 - 1987)
Has anyone added a dome type antenna on a 1984-1986 43 Motor Yacht? Our arch is loaded with the open array radar plus nav lights and gps antenna. I am in the quandary on were to put the dome. Pictures would be nice.
Thanks,
Werner-Mirage

This is an example of what I see on boats in your situation. At some point, I'd like to clean up my arch a bit and possibly add a second radar, so have done a little studying.

This is what I did...

On my 48, I raised the radar antenna and mounted the sat dome near the front of the hard top. I can get a picture if you want.

Thanks for the information that you shared with me. I went up top and looked at our current setup, that is a 48""open array radar- the gps-the nav light poat and another antenna. I was thinking that if I could find a new platform for the TV dome which had a base that could go under the radar, for mounting, and then go aft and up to mount the TV dome. I guess the question that needs an answer is how far away from the radar must the dome be and what are the vertical issues relative to functionality of the two devices.
Thanks

If the dome is higher than the radar. I don't think you will have any trouble. It would only need to be a couple inches or more to be safe. The two units have no common frequency to interfere with each other And one being higher then the other neither will see each other. The benefit of directional antennas.

Sounds like you are looking for something like this:

I would like to get my radar clearer of both my satellite dome and running light. I have hemmed and hawed over it four 4 years now, because a) i have gotten away with it and b) it would cost $$$ that could be spent on diesel fuel and c) it would add height and reduce my bridge clearance, which I already wish was a foot or two less without having to lower the arch.
