We're going to cruise the Tennessee River this Fall from the Ten-Tom to Chattanooga. Have any of you done this? Any great places to see or bad ones to miss? Any great anchorages or islands to see? We'll get a cruising book and Quimbys, but I thought maybe somebody (besides Freebird) had been there. When it starts to get too cold (December?), we'll go on down to Florida.

We kept a boat in Guntersville, AL for 2 years (1991-1993). It's a nice lake with some good anchorages, but I'd have to look at my charts again to remember where to go.

Great crusing grounds, and you'll love Chattanooga. Pickwick [where the Tenn-tom and Tennessee meet] is wide and deep with excellent facilities - Aqua, and the state park, esp. On the upper end is Florence Harbor - be sure to try Riggatoni's, just a short walk from the harbor. On Wheeler, excellent facility at the state park and in Decatur. Guntersville is a beautiful lake with many fine facilities. The Tennessee Gorge [on Nickajack] is breathtaking. Downtown Chattanooga is a must see.

Be sure to get Fred Myers Cruising Guide as it is a must for this trip.
