The stainless steel strip around the edge of my swim platform got mashed when I tried to move St. Augustine's new breakwater out of my way. (Note: it doesn't move) After I have the fiberglass surgeon do his thing, I want to put a black Taco rub rail around the edge instead of replacing the tiny little stainless strip. My problem is length. I need fourteen feet of the stuff, and it seems to be sold in either fifty or seventy foot lengths. Anyone have any idea where one might find shorter lengths, or the cut-off from a job that only needed fifty-five feet?

Can you post a picture of what you are going to buy? I am thinking about the same idea (to keep from beating up the Whaler). I have not measured yet but I am estimating 18 feet and you are wider than me. maybe we can split a 50' roll:cool:

You need to double check the sea wall.....you are in a Hatteras!

Rwappleton,

No, I'm driving an Ocean, not a Hatt, but I was still pleasantly surprised at the limited damage incurred. I was being pretty insistent that the breakwater should move out of my way, and I just got a small corner-crunch for my efforts.

If you go to the Taco Metals website (tacomarine.com) and look for rub rails, the three that are in contention for me are one of the semi-rigid models, V11-9795, and two of the flexible models, V11-3447 and V11-4014.

The semi-rigid one comes in a 30' length, and the two flexible ones are in 50' lengths. For all three, the round tube insert is extra.

If it looks like one of those might work for you, I'd be interested in following your thought of splitting a roll. I figure I need 15 feet.

I will check them out and let you know!
