I HAVE A 1980 43'DC THAT HAS A RAYINE REMOTE SPOT LIGHT. I HAVE REPLACED THE LIGHT BULB TWICE ONLY TO HAVE IT FALL OUT OF THE SOCKET AND BREAK. IS THERE A WAY TO PROPERLY SEAT THIS BULB SO IT WILL REMAIN IN THE SOCKET?. ALSO WHEN IT DID WORK, THE BEAM WAS MUCH LESS THAN WHAT YOU WOULD THINK THIS LIGHT WOULD PRODUCE. I AM USING BULBS SUPPLIED BY SAM'S FOR THIS LIGHT, 12V 120 WATT I THINK WAS WHAT I HAVE ORDERED. I ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY NAVIGATION LIGHTS. THE WHITE LIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MAST DOES NOT WORK WHEN THE NAVIGATION LIGHTS ARE ON ALTHOUGH THE TRANSOM LIGHT DOES. ALSO THE ANCHOR LIGHT ON TOP OF THE MAST DOES NOT WORK WHEN THE SWITCH IS IN THE ANCHOR POSITION. THE SWITCH IS GOOD AND I AM GETTING POWER TO BOTH OF THESE LIGHT SOCKETS BECAUSE WHEN I TRY TO REPLACE EITHER BULB I THROW THE BREAKER. I GUESS I HAVE A DEAD SHORT TO GROUND WHICH IS WHY THE BREAKER TRIPS.. WHERE WILL I FIND THESE WIRES TO TRACE BACK TO THE SORCE OR THE SWITCH AT THE HELM? I HAVE TWO ACCESS PANELS IN THE SALON HEADLINER. ONE UNDER THE MAST THE OTHER MIDWAY BETWEEN THIS PANEL AND THE ACCESS PANEL TO THE HELM. THE PANEL UNDER THE MAST IS WHERE THESE WIRES GO THROGH TO THE MAST. DOES THIS MIDDLE PANEL HAVE THESE WIRES TOO? IF SO, WHICH ONES ARE FROM THE HELM SWITCH SO I COULD CHECK FOR POWER THERE. OR, DO THESE WIRES RUN FROM THE HELM SWITCH TO THIS PANEL UNDER THE MAST? ANY IDEAS.

L B Harvey Marine in Miami, a certified ITT Jabsco shop, just rebuilt the floodlight on my '79 43C. If yours is the same as mine, it is a flood, not a spot light. I also carry a hand held spotlight to supplement the flood. You can contact LB Harvey at 1-800-856-1583. Ask for Dave, and I'm certain he will be able to answer your question about the bulb falling out.

Just be real careful if you ship it via UPS. Despite VERY careful packing on my part, they did extensive damage to the unit.

As far as kicking the breaker when you replace the bulb, is it possible that you are putting a one-contact bulb into the socket? Mine are 2-contact sockets, and I imagine that if I were to insert a one-contact bulb, it would short across the two contacts in the socket and have the result you described.

I had a bad socket on my anchor light, and found that Cole Hersee makes a direct replacement for that lamp socket. If yours is the same as mine, you'll find the socket held in place from the side by a small set screw. Once this is loosened (I had to heat mine with a micro-torch to loosen it), the entire socket lifts out. The lamp socket has two screws at the base, which lock the hot and ground wires into the bottom of the socket. Sam's couldn't find a direct replacement, but I was able to get one thru Boatfix.com. You can also check out Cole Hersee's site. Search for Lamp Socket, and select part number 2006.

Oh, and if you unlock your caps, your posts will be easier on the eyes for old guys like me.

Thank you very much. You were right regarding the bulb.I was using the wtong type. Howeve, I did end up replacing the nav/anchor light switch which enabled the mast light to work, but had to rewire the anchor light wires to the compass switch is located next to nav /anc switch to get the anchor light to work.. As for the spotlight-your right.I learned it is a flood light although you can adjusts this beam by turing the knob at the rear of the light. No caps. Thanks again for the help and info on these sites, too.
