Hatteras Model
45' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1984 - 1992)
My ice maker had a fresh water hose let go and therefore run the shurflo constantly for an unknown time. I fixed the icemaker problem but discovered a blown fuse on the shurflo. BTW the shurflo had a small black fluid puddle around it.....With the fuse replaced the Shurlo sounds like it has loose marbles in it and the water pressure to the sinks etc is low. Are there kits to rebuild these pumps or do I sign up for a new one? Thank you.

Unfortunately, most of the shurflo units are throw-away type--no rebuilding them. You might check with shurflo, but I bet you'll be ordering a new one.

Do you think this is the best pump for the job or since I have to replace it anyway, is there a top of the line model that would be a better, long term replacement?

I like the big old original (noisy) Galley Maids. Every part in them can be rebuilt. Like DD engines, they are of another age when real mechanical things could be fixed or jury-rigged to work well enough to get you home.

Whew! I actually avoided jumping on my extra-tall Luddite soapbox that time!

Are they available in stores or only garage sales?

You can buy them direct from GalleyMaid. I don't have their number right here, but it is on their website.

i think he was referring to the "extra-tall Luddite soapbox" :)

I have them in small, medium, tall, and extra tall. I find I'm currently using only the extra tall. Additionally, I'm working on constructing a Magna-Tall version that would dwarf even the Extra-Tall!;)

i think if we market it as the "KONG" size, put some lights on it, we have a winner... :D

Oh well, MikeP996 tall or short has always had excellent info to putout. James
