i have been chasing down a minor water leak outside the shower door that only appears after a shower, and just discovered the rubber drip strip. It is in poor shape and looks like it has shrunk. Any better ideas for sealing the bottom of the shower door?

I had the same problem . I found the exact rubber gasket at the local glass shop. They had a 55 gallon barrel full of all kind he told me to help myself. He puts in shower stalls in new homes. Hope this gives you some idear. Also at the bottom of the shower there is a small plastic strip that runs the distance of the shower. It is about 2 inches tall . I do not like the look but it workes. I am sure it is origional equiptnemt so you may check with Sams. Good luck.
Tim

I bought the original strip from Sams a few years ago.

Mind posting a pic of the plastic strip? I have an aluminum strip that holds the rubber piece on. Is that the same function?

I replaced that strip on all 3 shower doors. I seem to remember that it had a larger bead on one side that tucked into a metal track. I will take some pics when I get to the boat tomorrow.

I also had to replace this a while back. The rubber strip slides in and out of either end of the aluminum rail on the bottom of the door. The rail is peened down in several places to hold the rubber strip in so you have to bend that up then slide the old strip out(may need some Dawn to get it to slide). Tim is exactly right on where to get the replacement. I took the old piece to Home Depot/Lowes without success. The local bathroom remodel/glass door replacement places can usually match it and will have it in bulk back in the shop. They will likely just give it to you because it's more trouble to write it up than it's worth. Slide the new strip into the rail, cut to size, and peen the rail back down. I removed the door to get this done but if you've got the clearance it can be left in place.
Hope this helps.

NO! there is a white plastick strip under the shower door that acts as a drip catcher kinda. Not very attractive. Bot workes. It is approximately 2 inches tall and runs the length of the shower. Held on by 4 screws. The water has no where to go but it catches so little i guess it just dissapatts. It is a dust, dirt catcher. I live about 130 miles away from the boat. It will be a week or so before i return but will post a pick. I will check with sams if they have one or the number i will send you the number you can see it on their sight in the meantime. pm sent

Ah, thanks. My aluminum strip performs that function. It's actually a 90 degree angle strip and yes, it does get yucky. I try to remember to wipe it down often but it gets slimy.

go to sams site online parts and put in shower click serch the first listing is shower drain that is what is under both of my showers hope this helps.

David, the rubber piece is a "T" shape piece of vinyl. The top of the "T" slides into the track, and Sam's has that piece. It works OK, but there is a lot of room for improvement. I have one shower door that opens inward and I could not for the life of me get that shower door to stop leaking. I eventually made my own water trap for that one using a large vinyl strip - not pretty, but it got the job done.

As luck would have it, I just pulled a piece of this out of my truck last weekend or so to replace the strip in my crew shower. Below is a picture of it.

On another note, has anyone replaced these shower doors instead? Mine are a little cruddy and I have small spots where the aluminum is corroding. I think I'd like to have a bi-fold door for the smaller showers I have as that would make maneuvering around them in the small space a little easier for everyone. They are just slightly smaller than a standard "small" shower door which makes replacing them a bit of a difficult find, short of a full-blown expensive custom job. My doors aren't in that bad of shape to warrant that yet. :)

I have seen boats where they have been replaced. Take a look at Top Hatt & Tails boat that is for sale. Brian has different doors on that boat.
