  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' YACHT FISHERMAN (1970 - 1981)
Howdy folks-

My wife and I took over "Time Out West" today and will be basing her in Tacoma WA. We're the 5th owners, she is in great shape (surveyed the mechanicals and engines) and I'm looking forward to keeping her that way while getting out and about the NW. I'm a fan of the forum world from cars and other things we've owned so I'll be looking around here for awhile just shamelessly copying and absorbing all the experience and fixes. It is nice to meet you-

A few pics to follow:

Congratulations! She looks great. Don't hesitate to ask about anything we can help with. You will probably find a lot!

Finally another West Coast fellow Hatteras owner. I'm down in Northern Cal where there a very few Hatteras's. I've seen photos of your boat on the forum and was jealous of the great back drop the photos were taken. What a wonderful location to own a yacht. I have a 53 1979 MY. Please don't hesitate to reach out. I'll help if I can. If not there are some great people here that will step in. Congratulations and Welcome.

Welcome, and thank you for sharing the pictures. That is a beautiful yacht you have there.

The backgrounds don't hurt either.

Congrats dar636!
She looks like a beauty!

Welcome, Boat Looks great, and like everyone else mentioned the picture backdrops are beautiful. Looks like the water maybe a bit cold to swim in though.

There are a lot of Hatts in San Diego, nine on my dock alone with another dozen or so in the marina. Most are convertibles.

I've only seen 7 up here. Wish there were more. Would love to do a raft out.

I have been watching that boat on Yachtworld.

You were smart to buy her. I am glad she turned out to be as nice as the pictures and listing description.

Enjoy!!!!!!!!

Thanks everybody! Spent the afternoon onboard turning everything on and off and opening drawers. Fun time! Setup a haul out, got my insurance binder and spoke with the engine mechanic, all good so far. I'm in possession as they say. More to follow...

A wise Hatteras owner told me the day I bought my 53, (do not through anything away unless you know exactly what it's for and you are sure you will never need it) I went thru the intire interior with a fine tooth comb and did the opposite. Months later I found little things I needed only to realize I had tossed them. Through everything except junk in a plastic tub and keep them.

I agree!

Avoid the Rickenbacker Causeway.... oh, wrong coast.

How do the boats get to the west coast...assuming most go via the Panama Canal? I am sure many are shipped overland. What is the maximum size you can ship over land? How did all of those big Hatteras boats get from the original factory in High Point, NC to the water?

How did "Time Out West" get there?

Thanks!

Mine was put on a ship and taken to Mexico then cruised to Long Beach California.

It is a 1976 model

And I don't know yet how it came the the west coast. I've found some logbooks and I'll post the answer if it find it.

Cheers-

Update: Been on the hard for 10 days now. Replacing the cutlass bearings, reworking the stbd prop (one bent blade) and balancing the port side. Zincs replaced, PSS shaft seals replaced, oil change on the transmissions, 15kw genset serviced and bottom paint. Should go back in the water the 16th ready for the summer.
