Hatteras Model
41' DOUBLE CABIN (1962 - 1965)
Starbord tachometer starting bouncing the dropped to 0 rpm.
Motor running smooth.

Electronic Tach?
Mechanical tach?
What model engines?
Synchronizer?
Upper station?
Lower sation?
Both?

I know this is a pretty bright group, but c'mon we're not psychic. Give us something to go on.

Sorry Scrod:
Mechanical tach, cable fine going into engine block.
Motors Chrysler 426, with Hemi
No synchronizer
Main station on the type of boat

Do not know if I take the cable off the upper tach unit, pieces parts fly out?
Cannot find drawing or details.

Okay, it shouldn't be a problem to pull the cable off the tach head unit. Look at the cable while sombody cranks the engine and see if it turns. If it's turning then the head unit is probably NG.

On the other end, you can pull the cable off the engine, have somebody crank it and see if the drive adapter on the engine is turning. Some of them require a key in the engine drive, this may have broken or missing. If you can get your fingers on it, give the cable a twist and watch the tach. It should bounce. That would indicate that the tach and cable are okay

Since this is a relatively straightforward system chances are the cable broke. But a little logic and a hands on inspection should steer you in the right direction. Good luck.
