Hatteras Model
52' COCKPIT MY (1990 - 1999)
Well, sent the E120 off to Raymarine last week. Got a call from them today.
Unit is toast (that's technical for burned up) :)
CPU is fried, and Main Board gave up the ghost.
Unit is 9 years old. Of course I've only had the unit / boat 1 week when it died.
Price quoted to rebuild 1700.00 OUCH!!!

Now, I have an option to get the C125 or the E125 (touch screen). Seems to be a great price from RM due to this one is dead.
Not sure I need the touch screen, so may just take the deal on the C125.
900.00 difference on the Touch Screen vs Button Model
So the question is,
What are the good / bad's and etc of this unit (125 models)

I've got an e7d on the bridge. The nice thing is that it wifi's to your ipad... so its like 2 units in 1.

Look at what is compatible with the old gear and upgradable. Garmin is a good one too especially if your changing out the rest.

I have the c120 and a Garmin 2010c, both are great units. I would stay away from the touch screen, my personal preference, it just seems easier to adjust with a button or knob when seas are bad than fumble around with a sensitive touch screen. I have a friend that just installed two of the E-series widescreen and after two months use he just can't get use to layout. It seems you lose a lot of real estate when you stretch it out to widescreen.

Why only consider discontinued stuff? Look at the current ray and garmin.

the garmin 8200 series is awesome. Ray has the 125/127 that's also current and much better than the old stuff

Scott I wasn't suggesting he purchase discontinued units, I was only saying that both ray and garmin are good units, also he was questioning the need for touch screen and in my opinion are not worth the upgrade price.

garmin now has 3 series of MFD displays at the high end. The rest are discontinued or announced to be when inventory is sold out. All are touch screen.Thats the way of the future.

look at the new garmin 8000 series.
