Did you attach the PVC to the stringers with clamps or just let it sit? I'm trying to decide if clamping it is a good thing or whether it would actually make it more prone to a problem due to any flexing of the boat or the PVC.

You really think your boat is flexing enough to make a difference

I have done both ways good result no matter which way

Mike,

Our PVC is not attached to anything. There is a 1/4" space around the pipe as it goes thru the bulkheads. If you used schedule 40, it's ridged enough to stay put.

If you want to clamp it, maybe consider using the clamps with the rubber on them cuts down on any vibration. Most electrical suppliers carry them.

Thanks Guys! I'm going to leave it unclamped where it runs along the stringer but clamped with the rubber insert clamps in the eng room where it hangs unsupported for about 6 feet.

I used cushion clamps but spaced them several feet apart. At the bulkheads, I cut larger holes and caulked them in.

Since plastics cold-form I'd be more worried about unsupported runs developing sags which would cause shlatchka to pool in spots. So the rubber-lined clamps that are secured at a single point should hold it up but still allow for vibration and boat motions.
