Proper American flag disposal?

I have an old flag that I have had laying around and need to do something with it. It deserves better than to be stuck in the closet gathering dust. I am not gonna throw it away..... any thoughts?

Contact the nearest VFW post or military base in your area. They will usually have someone to handle that.

Go to the nearest American Legeon Hall. They have cotainers to put the flag in and will see that it is taken care of. If the flag is still able to be used they will clean it up, if not the proper disposal of the American Flag is to burn it! They will do this with proper ceremony.
Please take it to them for the care it needs.... thanks

hey Bill just burning a flag is not the right way to do it. I know you know that but some young guy like Krush may think of doing this himself. Hopefully not at a rally though.

... And now to stir the pot... 'Ol SPIKE LEE (?) had a picture of
HAROLD WASHINGTON in drag set up here a few years ago, and to sign the guest book, you had to stand on the flag... THAT really irked me! ws

If it's just old and flyable, fly it. It does not matter if the star count is wrong. It is still OK to fly it. If its cotton cloth and bad burn it. If it's torn it can be sew-en. If its not burnable then just bury it. Services are not required to burn it or bury it. Some libraries will accept them and dispose of them.
