  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
45' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1984 - 1992)
Does anyone know about these boats? How do they ride and who is making the best one? I know a few are imported as Hulls from Mexico and finished out in Fl & TX to be brought to USCG Specs and to be able to get a MIC Plate. One of those being "Panga Boats USA by IMEMSA".

Then there are a few that have been altered, designed and built here in the USA. Such as "Panga Marine", and "Andros Boatworks".

I'm told these when stripped down are very affordable and very efficient. I'm looking for an inexpensive boat to represent in Western PA area and thinking about something like this. In PA there are a lot of 20hp restricted lakes so people use lightweight aluminum boats and I'm looking for something fiberglass stripped down that can compete with them. But that also offers a finished off nicer version as well for the people that use bigger power and look to use the boats on the rivers and Lake Erie.

Any Suggestions on other types of boats would be appreciated as well.
I've also considered Carolina Skiff, and Twin Vee.
Thanks in Advance
Tony

An excellent source for info is Mary Schroyer, at Marina De La Paz in Baja California, her husband I believe made the first F.G panga from a mould he took off a Mexican wooden one, when I was there his was the most popular and apparently made him quite wealthy. They are both American and reside I believe in summer in Wa. State.

Dennis, you took the words right out of my mouth. Max Shoyer makes a great boat in La Paz. To get one real cheap just go down to the beach in San Diego on a dark night and you will probably find one washed ashore after a drug delivery, happens a couple of times a month it seems. I think they run them up on the beach and run off with the drugs and abandon the pangas.

Free Panga boat at least 3 times a month in San Diego. They bring drugs and illegal aliens. I bet if you offer to get the boat off the beach you can have one for free!!

Have you considered production of Tolman Skiff kits? If you can sell them, I am sure you could finds oto buildthem for a reasonable price.
