  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
34' SEDAN (1963 - 1966)
Has anyone installed or had installed- one of these decking materials in cockpit? I am seriously looking to have installed in my Hat's 34' Sedan cockpit.Very pricey-$60-$75 per sq ft! Any feedback or suggestions are appreciated.I am N.E. area-anyone who does this work? Mix

I have Flexiteek on my 31 Chris Craft. Installed price is around $70 SF. NuTeak is produced by Flexiteek, but is glued together onsite in strips. Flexiteek is hot-welded together offisite from a template to create a continuous one piece deck panel. The NuTeak product is a little bit lighter in color and has some wood grain effect. Flexiteek is a solid color with either white or black "caulk" lines. Flexiteek is only sold as a professionally installed product. NuTeak will sell you the materials for a do-it-yourself install.

I don't know anything about Plasdeck other than it is glued together.

All of these are hot in the direct sun, just like a real teak deck would be.

Last year we installed ourselves Plasteack, on the flying bridge and in the aft salon of our 58 YF. The lesson we learned is that you have to be very carefull with your measurements, because there are not square areas in a boat. Also the job tends to be a little messy with the black glue that comes with the floor. The only draw back we have noticed is that since the material is a plastic product it tends to get very hot with the sun at least here in the tropics. I will try to post some pictures when I manage to learn how. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. I have heard about the temp of the material in sun.I am going to have installed-because of the material costs-and rather not waste material to get a less than satifactory job-if I attempt the installation.Mix

Here's what my Chris Craft deck looks like. I only did the "mezzanine" level. The lower deck is still the original tan color from Chris Craft. In the direct sun, the Flexiteek is warm, but no warmer than the tan deck is.
