Miami Vice Scarab 38KV Built By Hatteras?

This listing on eBay is pretty laughable, but there is some guy claiming he was a part of constructing this iconic, Wellcraft Scarab at Hatteras in High Point. Meanwhile, the boat and a fake Ferrari can be yours for a mere $20M! LOL

What do you expect for $20M?

Actually, if you click on the link for more details, there are tons of pictures and even a really cheesy video. The guy who claimed he worked at Hatteras in High Point and built that boat sort of disappeared. I'm thinking he got himself confused.

It boggles my mind that someone would even attempt such a ridiculous figure for that boat.

The boat and the Daytona/Vette were at the MIA show a few years ago. Some Orthodontist Sonny Crockett wanna be owned them. The girl that played Trudy in the show was there. I ended up talking to her for quite a while since no one seemed to remember Miami Vice. Apparently they couldn’t get anyone else from the show to come. She looked like she aged better than the boat and car. Bygone era.

I saw Trojans being built in the HP plant on a separate assembly line in the early 90s. There is no guarantee that they were any better or worse than Trojans built anywhere else, of course. I don't remember them building Wellcrafts, but I suppose it's possible. Of course, there's no guarantee that they would be any better than any other Wellcraft, which weren't particularly great boats. The assembly skill might have been better, if they were built by Hatteras plant workers,but they could have just leased the space to other companies. Who knows? But if you want a used Wellcraft, there you have it.
