Marquip dinghy crane cable will not go down.

I purchased a used crane to rebuild and put on my 58' Yacht Fisherman. Manufacture will not return my calls or emails. Did not receive a manual or spec. when I purchased the crane. The crane has a hydraulic ram to raise and lower the cable. The rest of the crane's operation is manual. When you press the cable out button there is a click in the crane but no cable movement. The pendant is sealed and cannot be opened without damaging the sealed yellow rubber cover. Need some help please.

I have had the same issues with Marquipt. Do you hear the motor run when you hit the button or does it just click?? If the motor is running do you know if you have hydraulic pressure?? You can tee a gauge in the line to see. I have had mine rebuilt at the hydraulic shop. Marquipt does their best to obscure the hydraulic motor and its parts but a good shop will be able to rebuild it. I would take the whole unit to the H shop and have them check it out. That motor can run and not be making enough pressure or the electric solenoid valve may not be allowing the pressure out to the lines(s) . Again a good H shop will be able to check it out for you..... Pat

I assume the davit does not work up or down? Sounds like the same problem I had. You would hear a click when the buttons are pressed, but the hoist would not move. Somewhere should be a LVC-Low Voltage Controller. Mine was under the davit arm. It is a black box that is sealed with wires coming out of it. The LVC has relays in it that turn on the motor and actuate the solenoid valve. When you press the button, the relays energize and you should get voltage to the motor and to the solenoid. First thing I would do is test for power at motor and solenoid when you operate the pendant. The motor should be 110v AC if your davit is 110V. The solenoid voltage will be stamped on the top of the solenoid. If there is no power, your LVC is probably bad.

That electro valve looks a bit yucky. Make sure it s working when you press the button on the remote does the pump start? There is usually a relay. The remote should engage the relay and also the electro valve Sometimes the valves can be activated manually by pressing or pulling

The click you hear is most likely the hydraulic valve moving in and out to direct hydraulic pressure to the cylinder. Is the pump coming on? Is there oil in the pump reservoir?

I have the Marquipt TL 1000 and had the hydraulic ram rebuilt due to oil leak. I also had problems with the hand control that is just like yours. I contacted Marquipt and Carlos Nunez is the service manager and has been very helpful. His contact info is below. That hand control is not made anymore, but Marquipt has the new style that must be wired in based on the type you have at a cost of approx. $900+. I opened mine up and found the contacts were corroded. However, the back of mine was already unsealed. I cleaned the contact buttons and resealed & still working. Hope it works out for you.

I'm assuming that it's a capacitor.
Pump just starts when raising the cable not when lowering.
The reservoir is full.

Then check the remote. If the pump starts for some functions but not others one of the wires inside may be pulled or the contact switch is bad

As Pascal said the motor should function for both directions there are check valves that don't allow the ram to move either way unless activated by the pressing of the button......Pat
