  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' LRC (1975 - 1981)
Hello everyone,

I am looking for a good marine surveyor near Baltimore, MD that knows the Hatteras brand very well and that is very reasonable in price. I know that what I am looking for is like trying to find a needle in a haystack but I figured I at least ask to see if anyone knows of someone. Also , I am looking for a place to haul out a 58LRC near Anchorage Marina that won't try taking me to the bank but has a very professional and courteous staff.

Thanks,
Alex S.

Call Derek Rhymes; he's local here in Maryland. If you need DDs surveyed, the man up here is Tom Hugg. He's usually busy, but with COVID it's possible he's available. Possible. You should be able to find both of them on line. Another good surveyor up here is Mike Previti, also locatable on line. Also familiar with Hatteras yachts.

As to where to haul that large a boat, the surveyors will know. I haven't lived in Baltimore for years so I don't know what the yard capacities are up there and who's open and what's changed hands. I do remember Markley's Marina in Middle River- they did several haulouts for me years back and were very professional. Now, whether they can haul a boat as big as a 58 LRC, I don't know about that.

Reasonable and not taking you to the bank are not realistic terms for large boats in general no less an extremely heavy and bulky LRC. You may have gotten a deal on an old beast but your still paying to support a multimillion dollar boat. The yards will look at you no differently than Thurston Howell the third pulling up in his Bentley with the trunk filled with bags of cash.

Trust me I know the 58 LRC are very bulky contain very complex systems. I have done my research and have been aboard several of them and know what I am getting myself into. I am only looking for the unrealistic possibility while the boat is in Baltimore. I have a good friend down here in the Carolina's that runs a boat yard where I will be able to do most of the work on her myself and needed he will help me with anything else I may need. If I didn't need to get stuff done there I wouldn't but I have no choice until she makes her way home here to SC. I am only doing the bare essential things needed to get her home then she will be going on the hard for couple weeks for me to complete everything else I need too. I just need a good surveyor to give me a good foundation and to get what I need to acquire good insurance.

Pleasure Cove Marina in Bodkin Creek hauled the last 58 LRC that I sold. They have to be careful to block the aft lower rub rails so they're not damaged.

Check Marine Max for the haul-out. Right around the corner from the Anchorage. Not necessarily the cheapest but very professional in my experience with both the Hatt and my sailboat. Did you purchase Emerald Lady? She's 5 or 6 slips down from us on B dock.

Also difference between Emerald Lady and Emerald Princess
