  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
34' DOUBLE CABIN (1963 - 1966)
Wanted: Electrical end of a 4CZ23 Kohler Generator, has Honda 360 twin cylinder engine. Acutally made by hona and Kohler stuck their nameplate over the engine nameplate,,,,,, I need the generating end from motor back to bearing. Any other parts regarding the water circulation may be needed also.

That was not one of Kohler's best gens. Personally I would look for a good take out.

that is exactly what I am hoping for. My motor only has 118 hrs on it. I misread the is not part. Do they make an gen you think that will interchange with my motor as I know honda makes a good motor and how would I go about looking for the genset part that would match, I am interested in any takeouts as an option as I have room for probably a 6kw in the hole.

What would be a good replacement in your opinion

Tomorrow i am gonna talk to the yard guys here... they junked 15-20 boats here 4 years ago when they took over. They saved all the good stuff.
My 36 with a 5000 btu AC unit and electric water heater --- all 110 vac, uses about 12 amp max. I would think a 6.5 onan mcck would do you right.
The 2 banger opposed piston design is smooth and quiet... Sugarford???
The generator at full load makes more noise than the engine... ws

I really do not like any of the current gas generators currently made. YB's suggestion of a MCCK is good and they were/are great, however they are getting old and parts are expensive and getting scarce.

I have a 31 Chris Craft Commander that is gas powered. I installed a 5kw Westerbeke diesel gen in it. I would really consider a diesel gen. Much more reliable, safer and less chance of carbon monoxide. The WB weighs 336 lb and fits right in where the old 3kw Onan was. I installed a 12 gal ready made tank for the diesel.
I will post some pics later to make Bill jealous!!

Hey Dave... I just picked up a 12 gallon tank for the 20 kw WB thats gonna go into the lazzarette. How much run time can I expect at around 3-4 kw of load?
That mcck in the roamer is a 1969 model and I dont remember even changing the plugs, but it does leak pretty good at the case joint... well maybe one day ;-)) ws

I would guess less than maybe .75 gal/hr?
