  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
52' COCKPIT MY (1990 - 1999)
I have been told that the Imron Paint for y 1981 Hatteras 48 MY is Imron 67766U. I was also told
that that Imron doesn't acknowledge the paint or a crossover number. Anyone got any additional info or knowledge on this dilemma. Thanks for any help and suggestions.

I recently painted my boat with Imron, DuPont only had the new Hatteras white code. I took a small panel into the Dupont shop and they where able to match the cream white color perfectly.

67766U became 67766X which was called ConRock Construction White. That then became another number but it was still ConRock Construction. Have them look that up. It worked for me back in March.

hi sky, do you have anyway to check the latest number or name of the paint? i gave finishmasters 67766u and x, i also gave them conrock white and they dont have any of those names numbers in their system.

Ideally i would like to go with Imron, but if i must go with awlgrip, which white do i go with? I know they have a hatteras off white, is that the correct paint? from the color samples their hatteras off white is very yellow/biege, maybe it is just the computer image.

Call Dave in parts at Grand Isle Marina in Grand Haven, MI. He just researched this and was given the new numbers.

Please post this info when you get it. Thxs.

I spoke with david, hes checking into it for me. He said that he got the new imron number for the blue but he doesn't think he found the correct code for the off white.

what about the awlgrip color? Does their hatteras off white 4208 match well? I have the interlux hatteras off white and it matches very well, but i have read that the awlgrip and imron are much better paints.

I have an 87 52 convertible and need to do some touch up paint work and also repaint the cockpit coaming. The boat is painted with the original imron. Are most people painting Awlgrip over imron? Is there a close color match? I havnt been able to find the paint code for the imron either. Any help is much appreciated!

I just had imron matched to an 86 52c. I glasses in the windows, faired and painted the house.
Last sanding and final coat next week and the match is amazing.

It was a pretty big job but looks great.

That’s great news. Does imron need to always be sprayed or can you roll and tip it? How did you get the perfect match on the imron?

Can't spray here so I rolled. I had the rep come out with a camera match system for the color.

Just want to confirm it was imron that you rolled? Fairly straightforward process?

Klasse one step and then Klasse sealer. Best product I’ve ever used. Made in Germany. Ridiculously expensive but worth the money and I can do the entire hull on my 52 with less than a 1/4 gallon.

Interesting thread. Sounds like I can assume my ‘83 55C was Imroned. I know the boat was repainted around 2005. There are no records to indicate the product used. What clues are out there that might help me determine what paint I have. My paint, including non-skid, is in good shape with some exceptions predominantly around frameless windows. I’m guessing that was poor prep when the frames were replaced.

Some of the stuff I read on this a while back said if its Imron it will polish and if its Awlgrip it won't. Apparently thats how you tell but if there is an easier way I would like to know. Also my manual has the paint colors and type listed but I guess thats not much help if its been redone like yours

Well I did Finesse-it 2 and came up to a sparkle. Had some light chalking, but nearly three years since last polish. I am so ashamed.

Awlgrip has a clear glossy resin that comes to the surface when it tries. When the clear is gone it's time to repaint.

Imron has pigment through the whole layer and can be polished.

We have Imron as well. Ours had enough oxidation that Finesse It was not enough. I used all 3 levels of Perfect It and used Meguiars Flagship. Several of the detailers at our marina comment on how good it looks. That said, I have not done the entire boat and understand why detailers get paid what they do...

Regarding paint, the first touch we did (we have the bright white color) I had a local shop match a panel I brought in with Awl Grip. Great match based on no one ever seeing where a repair was done. I am ordering some Imron now where they are again matching a panel.
