Has anyone researched these new loop propellers? Sharrow?

I don't see much on the site about running in hull speed / trawler mode but the high end performance specs sound amazing.

Just wondering if anyone has talked to them about these for our boats.

Do they build them for inboards? All the graphics on their site show outboard or IO props.

I just got a call back from them.. They do not have anything for MY's yet. The guy said hopefully in the next 18 to 24 months.

No free lunch. If these were so great every builder would Be using them.

A dock neighbor tried them on a triple outboard intrepid. To say he was disappointed is an understatement

Was talking with my prop shop about this.
For now, inboard wheels are custom made. There is a science to making these for inboards including shaft angle.
Is has been just to expensive for anybody to take them up on this.

Also, Yamaha Corp now has a large stake in the company. Their propeller casting capabilities are pretty advanced and helps the mfg time of outboard props considerably.

I don't see Yamaha in a hurry to make inboard props but all it takes is money to get somebody to start.

That's weird, there web site has all kinds of performance improvement specs for different boats.

I guess the old "Don't believe everything you hear or see" has some merit to it.

Just curious, did they give him his money back?

I asked them about inboard wheels when they first came out with the loop propellers.

Is there any objective evidence that they are better- that is, evidence that comes from unbiased observers? Because I think everything favorable I've seen has come from Sharrow themselves.

I can't imagine what it would take to re-tune one or repair one after ingesting a crab pot/ touching bottom.

From what i have read, they are designed for commercial use. They save money in the midrange motor operation. So if you use them for long trips every day they can save you money on fuel. They are not repairable if you hit anything. They are expensive to purchase.
