Fuel Air Separator

I am looking to install the Racor LG100 in my fuel line vents. Has anyone done this? Curious where the vent line is located for each fuel tank and if it is a flexible line or metal. The unit has a 5/8 barb fitting designed for flexible lines. Also wondering if the vent lines if flexible are 5/8. Not at my boat at the moment.

The vent lines are copper. There are 2 per tank. Some of them can be accessed behind the closet in the mid stateroom

I have used the Racor units for years, with no issues and no fuel spills. You simply cut out a piece of the copper vent line and install a piece of fuel line between the Racor Vent and the copper tubing. The Racors whistle as the tank is filled, the sound varies as the tank is filling. Fuel WILL NOT come out the vent but will come up the fill hose just like normal.

Thanks this is helpful. My marina installed new high speed fuel pumps and I am having a devil of a time filling the boat with fuel as diesel comes shooting out the vents. Not a problem with slower pumps. When you say fuel still comes out the fill I presume just when full? What size and type hose did you use?

I used 5/8" fuel hose from NAPA. The hose without the wire in it. When my fuel gauge is almost on full, I listen and can hear as the tank fills up, just like you normally fill, but without fuel spitting out the vent.
