...And you thought the Miami Boat Show was chilly? YIKES!

I have great sympathy for everyone stuck in the "Polar Vortex". I saw the reports today on Great Lakes Ice Cover and Niagara Falls being frozen for the second year in a row. I can't imagine what you are going through.

Here in South Florida, we're expecting the coldest weather in 4 years. The farmers are scrambling. We can only hope the best for them. Winter Sweet Corn, Red Peppers and Lettuce are almost ready for picking. Every forecast temperature would be a new record low for Friday.

Please refrain from political comments like "coldest weather in 4 years"... It's getting warmer at an alarming rate. Last year was the "hottest on record" according to NOAA and their methodology. I'm so proud that our Leaders recognized this is a greater threat than terrorism.. Settled science.. Nuff said don't believe your lying eyes..

It is like tobaccow farming and fighting hell storms.ABSOLUTELY NOTHING YOU CAN DO. I have seen hell completely strip all the leaves off the stalk. Poor Mr Farmer just shaking his head,

They're talking about a high temp tomorrow of 14 in CT. That's northern Maine wx. I'm particularly worried that my nut crop may be severely stunted as a result this season.

I am going boating tomorrow, the sun will be out and it should be nice inside the enclosure.
Wind is still supposed up so I might leave the Dog at the house and Linda will pick her up and drive her down. I would not want her to get seasick.

what kind of nuts?

when I lived in Toronto in the 60's the falls froze every year, Buffalo would get snow up to the eaves and it was all quite to be expected.
I met up with a nuclear research prof. a few yrs ago, and he told me that the problem is going to be global cooling, not warming.
Time will tell no doubt.

Temperature
2.1 °F
Feels Like 2 °F

No doubt this is due to wind chill. This is the reading this morning for Annapolis from www.weatherunderground.com. Hilarious. How do they figure this stuff out?

Freaking cold here. About 40 f.

Almost had to put on the heat last night.

Ok so I did turn it on around midnight.

I think I'll work from inside the house today.

37 here in Madeira Beach.

Luckily our predicted low of -11 was only 3, but I'm still keeping my nuts inside this morning.

Just now at my dock with my jon boat frozen in. Been snowed and iced in for five days straight with more to come later today. Luckily we never lost power, and the boy enjoyed a week off from school. :)

We're gonna start calling you Freezebird.

2° on Long Island this morning. Thank goodness for the moderating effect of a large body of water.

Don't know how much it helped. It was -1° here when I woke up. Warmed up to a balmy 3° by 9am. Down at the boat it was ony 2° warmer.

WHEW! While the farming areas had near freezing temps in many areas this morning, most of metro South Florida stayed above the freezing mark. There were record lows of 38 in West Palm Beach, and 49 in Key West. Miami and Ft. Lauderdale tied their previous records of 42 and 40.

We should be back to the low 70s tomorrow and 80 degree boating weather on Sunday.

43 in Marathon. ... Figures.... I'm heading down there tomorrow supposedly to warm up.

Eric

Hi All,

Just a reality check from southeastern Massachusetts.

Image 1 is the ice dam on the southern facing side of the house.

Image 2 is a picture facing the harbor, which is about 200 feet away, right behind that evergreen.

Temp right now 1 degree.

My Father In Law has 600 acre potato farm in Aroostook County Maine. I know what nature can do to crops, and my thoughts go out to the farmers in FL.

Hi All,

WOW Sky, amazing. How do you function in those conditions.

Wasn't whining, was trying to contrast.
