What is the correct position for this valve? Vertical? Horizontal? Or at a 45?I think they got moved over the winter and I want to be sure they are in the correct position when running.

Horizontal to pull from one filter, vertical pointing down (I think) to pull from both filters.

Most captains seem to prefer to run on both filter, some claiming you need both to get enough flow. Just like battery parallel switches, it s better to run on one and have one filter in Stand by

I change Racors at every oil change, replacing the one that was used and switching to the one that was on stand by

Look at the diagram on your first picture.

It's always on the unit. Most Captains don't follow directions even when they are right in front of them.

By the way both position will not increase available fuel unless the filters are clogged.

Run one and switch when needed.

Off or All is stamped on the mid block. I thought up was all and down was all off. I have the older dual Racors so not in practice.
The handle (left/right) does points to the filter in use.

I prefer one filter at a time. Those big 900s flow very well (one at a time) for past 1000HP each.

Some operators still run both, Beyond my explanation.

They're not 900 series. Those are absolutely 1000s.

Big difference .

I use one at a time for 2000hp MTUs

Thank you for the replies. Normally I would run both engines with the lever straight up pulling fuel from both filters. After reading your replies, I am going to use just one filter at a time now. BTW, I started the engines and moved the valve to all 3 operating positions and the gauges didn't budge. In any position (at idle), the pressure is 2 inHg. See attached photos. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.
