  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
54' MOTOR YACHT (1985 - 1988)
I found a 1987 Hatt 54 listed with Bluewater Yachts of Hampton Va. YW# 5224-1030441 she looks like a good boat. Does anyone know this boat? I believe the name of the boat is the Jan-CI-PAM

I would suggest you contact Bruce Morrison at 252-670-8053. Bruce recently retired from Hatteras after 30 years of service and has intimate knowledge of these boats. He looked at a 54 in Norfolk for me last year named MY WAY before I bought BUFFALO GAL. He may have knowledge of the boat you are interested in.

Thanks for the information. I'll contact Bruce and see what I can find out. I'm surprised that no one has heard of this boat. Thanks again.

I know the boat. It has been for sale for 10 years and needs lots of work. The photo's make the boat look good. My Way is a much much better boat. Jan Ci Pam is not worth looking at----you can find a 54 in alot better shape. keep looking.

Thanks for the come back. What kind of problems does the boat have? It really does look good in the pictures. Are there problems with the engines?

I've been on many boats that looked great in pictures. When I saw them in person it was hard to believe it was the same boat.

I have seen the boat from the outside and when I last saw it (maybe 3 years ago) it looked good. I can't speak for its overall condition. I will say this: Bluewater has a history of taking trades, so if you have a boat you need to get out of give them a call. I would imagine they would work a deal on the purchase and maybe on an upfit. I don't care much for their service manager but the yard does good work and the price was reasonable. I have no connection to Bluewater just as an old customer. The tidewater area has alot of talented marine contractors and I would imagine Bluewater is slow and they could sell an old boat and give their own yard some work.

The boat has the orginal interor soft goods the orginal exterior paint. Both need lots of attention. The window frames need to be repainted or replaced. I bet that an engine surveyor would find that both engines need to be rebuilt. It needs lots of tlc IMO. It just depends on what you think is acceptable. I will say the interior wood work is in pretty good cond. It's located in a very dirty location with the school acrcoss from Blue water burning coal. Boats get black dust on them in a few hours.
