  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
I need some help please.
1972 53MY "Murphy's Law".
I have broken all four motor mounts holding the Detroit 8V71N port engine.
I need direction to the possible purchase of replacements.
Evidently they were OEM parts
Any help on the subjects, I would be extremely grateful .
I am hoping I am not the first to have " accomplished " this feat.
I also bent both rudders.

I hate to ask but was a collision the reason for all the above?

Sam's before anything else, for mounts. You may be able to get the rudder shafts straightened by a propeller shop, if not, they were probably made by Buck-Algonquin in Maryland.

If this was a collision and that much damage was done, you might think about filing a claim with your insurance company, and getting a surveyor to view the boat. Sorry this has happened to you.

I had replaced my motor mounts for my 671 TIs in another boat years ago and sourced them from a company in New Jersey. Let me see if I can find that data in my archives.

I replaced mine during an out of frame rebuild.

I have used mounts if you want to go that route. I sold one but have 5 left.

They are Ace mounts (at least they were from mid/late-70's through end of production). The earlier boats were like this:

Which is probably what you have and it looks like Sams has those in stock.

Can you send some pictures? Maybe of the good mounts?
May have some collecting dust.

If they are the Ace 730's, I have 5 of those. But in 1972, they are most likely the ones I pictured above.

I collided with a sandbar. Ran aground going forward then backed off and hit another sandbar astern.

That is the definition of a bad day on the water.
