Hatteras Model
74' COCKPIT MY (1995 - 1999)
Sorry to go to the well again but my online research has proved fruitless. I cannot find a good source for cockpit seating. What I think I am looking for is some sort of loveseat/sofa that will face aft on the deck with a table between it and the stern as well as two chairs. The table and chairs are easy to source but the sofa/loveseat is not. I want something nice rather than something that looks like it was thrown on top of a dock box. I also do not want something that looks like pontoon boat furniture or for that matter, outdoor deck furniture. The reason this is a bit tricky is because the Ocean does not have a true flush surface to place it facing the bow from the aft cover boards so I need to face it aft instead which means it needs to be finished on all sides. One last thing. If at all possible, I would prefer not to have to have a canvas cover over this so the cushions must not absorb water. Any and all help is appreciated.

JLR, I have Winston patio furniture on my 48MY I do not know when the PO bought the set, but it was not new when I bought the boat almost 12 years ago. It is very good quality and seems to dry fast. No fading. You can find a picture of the aft deck with three pieces, love seat and two swivel rockers in my gallery.

Very nice but mine will be completely exposed to the elements.

Understood, and I'm just trying to help with options. Winston is made for out door use. The fabrics are very durable and weather resistant and they dry fast. The stuffing can also be made to dry fast. Two options (in principle). Reticulated foam, or plastic bagged. Neither will retain water.

Maybe you should post pictures of your cockpit so we can have an idea what we are working with?

And maybe, you should've bought a MY??!!?? (joking). Most people seem to use some type of folding or stack-able chairs in the cockpit, because if they leave the dock, the cockpit space is used for other activities. Tim has the way to go with the mezzanine.

John, is this more for at the dock or away from it?
Whatever you do make sure you have easy access to the rear hatch for an emergency.

Think I've scene more sportfish cockpit for and aft opposed seating compared to athwartship set ups

Had a buddy have these guys make a very custom leaning post which they turned into one of their offerings. Turned out really well

Here's some others with fiberglass seating.

Thanks. I will need to wait until next week to post a picture. It is definitely more for the dock than underway. The places Holden mentioned seem promising. Spatial relations are definitely not my strong suit.

Here is a picture of the aft deck. Notice that the fish box makes it impossible to put bench seating along006.webp the aft cover board.
