Amtico Flooring installation?

Thanks to MikeP and several others here I am gathering the materials to install Amtico flooring in my Galley and Heads.
I am worried about telegraphing defects in the subfloor material.
To handle any defects in the sole what leveling compound is recommended?

If they are small, I would use thickened epoxy. I installed Amtico in all three heads without any leveling or fairing and there was no transfer of any defects from the substrate.

Another option is belt sanding until smooth.
