AIR VENT FILTER

I just pulled the engine room air intake filters out of my boat, and to my amazement, they were filthy. Where does so much filth come from on the water? Anyway, I was thinking obout replacing the element material while out. Is there anything special about the fabric? I noticed Sams has a 30" x 170" filter listed. Is this what I'm looking for? Also, anyone had success replacing the element in the existing aluminum frames? Is it a problem job? Thanks for any help.

made my own custom vents, and we're using standard AC filter fabric-fiber.

Dunno on the dirt....

... but I get a LOT of it in my engine room bilge floors - its not oil, its DIRT.

Now how you get that on the water I don't know. But I do. I'm constantly amazed at how much dirt I end up cleaning up when I get down there and scrub things.

Would love to know the whys and wherefores on that one.....
