3 knob a/c control replacement

i know this has been discussed before, but what it the easier/cheaper replacement for a 3 knob old style thermostat? i no longer have the click in the thermostat, and the unit only blows room temp air. it is an original unit, and doesn't perform perfectly, so i want to put a new thermostat on to get me through the summer, and then probably change the complete compressor skid. what i dont want to do is buy an expensive thermostat now, and find out later that it is not compatible with a new unit if i have to replace the whole skid. thanks, bigbill

i got just the thermostat,for my 3 knob control, not a complete replacement, from the local cruiseair dealer . just under 60.00 dollars with a buddy's discount. thanks all who responded
