Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
Going across the gulf my super max (all chain rode) decided to launch, I have no idea why, since it was fine all the way down. Anyway I now need to build a new pulpit I'm looking for a good (best price) source for teak. Need about 14 1x1.5x72 pieces of teak as well as some filler pieces. Can surface plane, rip as required. Any good sources? Thanks Bill

There's a place in Long Branch that has good teak stock. I'll see of I can dig up a name and number for you

Bill,

You may want to try to find a good used Hatteras pulpit. Tom Slane may have some. Also a possible source would be someone that's parting out an old Hatt. By the time you pay for all the teak you're going to need, plus the labor and the metal parts, the cost may be very close to the cost of a decent used Hatteras unit. Just a thought.

The anchor chute survied with a few slight bends easily fixable. I'll be able to just replace the wood and some of the stainless railing and I'll be good. I want to make a few changes on it to allow the use of the windlass on the backup anchor as well. Thanks Bill

My 43 came without a pulpit or windlass. Most of the aftermarket rollers seemed small and not heavy enough for the boat. Hate to say it but Sea Ray puts some fairly nice heavy stainless bow rollers on their boats. Found one the right size, purchased from Sea Ray, and backed it up with 2 lengths of through bolted and glassed in 2 x 2 x 1/4 aluminum from underneath for strength. Looks good on the boat and performs very well with new windlass and 220' of chain. I didn't have a railing for a pulpit and didn't want to add a pulpit. I've been very happy with this solution.
